We listed 3 properties with other real estate companies and they all sat with no activity for over a year so we then listed them with Thomas J McCarthy Real Estate. My husband owns and operates a coffee shop in town. You’d be surprised how much you can learn about a town from a barber, a bartender, or the fellow who serves you coffee and a breakfast sandwich. From all the gossip these folks hear daily, they could probably predict the winners on election day and certainly develop a strong sense of who in the town can be trusted and counted on.

We had been running the coffee shop for eight years, commuting two hours a day. It was finally time to purchase a house in Southold. I figured it would be difficult for Erik to select a realtor from all of the acquaintances and true friends he has met in the business.

Actually, it wasn’t. For Erik, there was only one option: Tom McCarthy.

Tom negotiated lower tax rates, arranged for contractor services for abatements, and even helped deal with removal of things the tenant left behind. He went so far beyond the extra mile that we also had him represent us on sale of our mother's home nearby. We had moved out-of-state early-on in the process and had to rely on him totally to get that property ready for closing also. That house sold and closed in record time, astonishing in the current market. Tom would walk on hot coals for a client and we recommend him highly.
